Kristi graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2002, and worked as an Assistant District Attorney, in the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office, from 2002-2014. As an A.D.A., she handled the following workload: legal research, writing and oral arguments before the Kansas Court of Appeals and Kansas Supreme Court; trial advocacy in the Gang Trial Unit; and administrative detail as a charging attorney. Kristi began training law enforcement recruits for the Wichita Police Department and Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in 2006 and continues to handle legal training for the departments. She has been employed as an adjunct instructor for Newman University since 2007, and directed the Paralegal Program for several years after joining Newman University as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in 2014. Kristi received a Bronze Wreath of Merit from the Wichita Police Department in 2013 and, in 2015, received the Bronze Medal of Outstanding Service from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office. Kristi published an article in The Kansas Prosecutor in 2012, entitled, "K.S.A. 60-1507: A Civilly Criminal Action," and continues to work as a crime analyst for the Office of the District Attorney.
