Dr. Long is a North Dakota native. She has a wide range of interests, with undergraduate degrees in biology, psychology, social and behavioral science, and minored in philosophy and theology. She holds a master’s degree in management, a post-graduate certificate in executive human resource management and consulting, and a Ph.D. in industrial psychology. Prior to moving into higher education in 2005, she worked in the commercial construction distribution and manufacturing industries and has owned her own management consulting business. Dr. Long has been in Catholic higher education since 2008. Her father is a now-retired Deacon in the Catholic church after serving 35 years in active ministry. Her mother is a long-time Diocesan employee, and is a now-retired director of family ministry for the Diocese of Bismarck (North Dakota). She has been married to Dr. Jim Long; a professor of business leadership, management, and finance; since 1990. They share their small farm south of Wichita with four horses, two dogs, a parrot, and fish. They also enjoy a small collection of classic vehicles including a 1950 Studebaker Champion, a 1954 Chevy pickup, a 1955 Ford dump truck, and a 1963 Chevy pickup, a habit they took up while working with her dad, Deacon Rex, on his own collection of classic autos.
